Topic:  Cardio-oncology Template for the General Cardiologist

Course Overview:

The number of patients who are developing cancer who have concomitant cardiovascular disease is rising. New cancer treatments have associated cardiovascular risks. As a cardiologist, we must be aware of our patient's  CV risk before starting treatment, be aware of the complications that can develop during treatment and be able to assess their future long term CV risk due to their cancer treatment.

Course Objectives:

Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:

Identify the most common cancer treatments received by our patients with cardiac disease
Assess and stratify patient’s cardiovascular risk and implement risk-mitigation strategies prior to initiating treatment
Evaluate patient status and monitor treatment-related outcomes during cancer therapy
Develop a long-term surveillance plan based on the treatment the patient received
