Objectives:

  1. Define obstetric violence culture and distinguish it from individual acts of mistreatment.
  2. Analyze how nurses can either perpetuate or challenge obstetric violence through their daily practice.
  3. Identify the structural, historical, and cultural factors that sustain obstetric violence in perinatal care.
  4. Discuss actionable strategies nurses can use to promote respectful, equitable, and patient-centered maternity care.
