Description: The goal of this presentation is to provide an overview of human leukocyte antigen sensitization and potential complications of sensitization in adult patients awaiting heart transplants. Once these concepts are understood, current and novel desensitization strategies will be reviewed.

- Recognize clinical characteristics of patients who are highly sensitized.
- Differentiate between novel desensitization agents and their role in therapy.
- Evaluate the appropriateness of associated pre-medications for novel desensitization agents.
- Assess treatment response and the potential need for a multi-drug regimen
