Description: This presentation will cover opportunistic infections commonly described in pediatric immunocompromised patients and the factors that contribute to increased risk. The presentation will also discuss prophylactic measures and treatment regimens for each of the opportunistic infections.

Objectives: ​​

  • Identify which pediatric patients are at increased risk for developing an opportunistic infection.
  • Evaluate the timeline of immunocompromised states and how it correlates with the risk for opportunistic infection.
  • Compare the medications used for prophylaxis of each opportunistic infection.
