Course Overview: This webinar will explore the pathophysiology of heart failure and examine how current treatment strategies can contribute to the development of diuretic resistance. Participants will review evidence-based approaches for overcoming diuretic resistance using currently available therapies and optimizing decongestion in patients with heart failure. The program will also highlight emerging and novel treatment strategies designed to address diuretic resistance and improve fluid management in patients with decompensated heart failure.
Course Objectives: Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:
- Identify the pathophysiologic mechanisms and medication-related factors that contribute to and exacerbate diuretic resistance in patients with heart failure.
- Apply evidence-based pharmacologic strategies using currently available therapies to manage and overcome diuretic resistance in heart failure.
- Evaluate emerging and novel therapeutic approaches to overcome diuretic resistance and achieve effective decongestion in patients with heart failure.
