The impacts of climate change and health on our community has moved from concern to alarming among health care professionals. While it impacts us all – the health of those who have been historically marginalized will be the most adversely impacted.  Indeed, there have been numerous articles and news stories about climate change and health including an international call to emergency action from over 200 health journals. A proactive group of AH health professionals has assembled to educate and activate our health care professionals to improve direct care to our patients. They have created this series seeking to prepare us to respond to the effects of climate on clinical conditions from the perspectives of air quality, rising temperatures, vector-borne diseases, and extreme weather.

Our emphasis will be on climate and our patients from a health equity lens (micro level) and touch on efforts in our clinical units (meso level) and within our organization (macro level - AH wide including alignment with our sustainability pledge).

Overall Objectives:

1. Discuss how climate change will impact patient’s health and care 
2. Initiate conversations with patients about how climate change will impact their health
3. Collaborate with the health care team to manage chronic and acute illnesses associated with climate change

Target Audience:  This activity is designed for advance practice clinicians, nurses, pharmacists, physicians, and members of the health care team who are interested in climate change and its impacts on health.
