Burns and Soft Tissue Injuries
Burns are something that we seem to rarely encounter in the prehospital setting. Understanding burns and the appropriate treatment for them is paramount to our patients. Integrating assessment findings with the principles of epidemiology and pathophysiology to formulate a field impression in order to form a comprehensive treatment plan for the acutely ill is only a portion of what will be covered in this lecture. Gaining knowledge and insight into what role the skin plays in our every day life and well as the appropriate treatment and transport decision will be an important component to the successful outcome of the burn patient.
