Course Objectives
1. Understand how stigma negatively affects care of patients with SUD.
2. Explain the role of buprenorphine in the treatment of OUD and its use in the acute setting.
3. Identify evidence-based strategies that reduce opioid-related morbidity and mortality (harm/risk reduction.)
4. Review novel substances and adulterants in the drug supply.
5. Discuss resources available in Illinois that will help further decrease opioid mortality.

Course Overview
This session explores evidence-based approaches to addressing opioid use disorder, including the critical role of medication treatment, harm-reduction strategies, and stigma reduction. Participants will learn about buprenorphine use, emerging substances in the drug supply, and practical resources available to help reduce overdose deaths and improve patient outcomes.
