Topic: When Psychological Symptoms Become the Primary Complaint: Structured Behavioral Health Programs for the Higher-Need Patient
Course Description:
This educational activity is designed to address gaps in knowledge and care coordination between primary care and behavioral health services across the continuum of care. Upon completion of this activity, participating clinicians are expected to demonstrate increased knowledge of partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient programs, including appropriate referral considerations, program structure, and anticipated patient outcomes.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:
- Explain the role of partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient services within the behavioral health continuum
- Define medical necessity for the partial hospitalization and intensive outpatient level of care
- Foster an understanding of the services provided and anticipated outcomes
