Topic: New Hypertension Guidelines from the American Heart Association: Useful Insights for Primary Care Clinicians
Course Description:
Updated US and international hypertension guidelines reflect new studies that better help us and our patients with controlling this silent killer. The guidelines provide the rationale and practical insights to achieve the lower BP target of <130/80 in most patients. Resistant hypertension gets special emphasis. We will also review evidence that tighter BP control prevents mild cognitive impairment and dementia. Social drivers of health are discussed as well.

- Objective 2: Better integrate home BP devices and measures to engage patients in getting to goals.
- Objective 3: Understand formal and real-world definition of resistant hypertension and local resources to conquer it.
