Objectives: At the conclusion of this activity the participants should be able to:
- Explain the importance of oral health care during pregnancy and how physiological changes during pregnancy impact oral health.
- Discuss opportunities for prenatal providers in addressing oral health.
- Demonstrate an oral examination.
- Learn how to counsel pregnant patients about the safety of dental care and improve dental access through interprofessional collaboration.
- Discuss opportunities for the co-management of care between the prenatal and the oral health care provider.
- Review guidelines and recommendations established for prenatal patients.
