Course Overview: Coronary CT Angiography (CCTA) has rapidly evolved from a purely diagnostic tool into a powerful modality for risk stratification, preventive cardiology, and procedural planning. This talk will highlight how contemporary advances in plaque morphology, calcification, and CT-based lesion assessment are reshaping preventive strategies and guiding interventional planning. Emphasis will be placed on how these tools can be incorporated into routine clinical care.
Course Objectives:
Upon completion of the activity, the learner should be able to:
- Apply coronary artery calcium (CAC) scoring to reclassify cardiovascular risk and select appropriate preventive therapies.
- Identify plaque morphologies and high-risk plaque features on coronary CT angiography (CCTA) and interpret their prognostic and clinical implications.
- Evaluate CCTA-derived anatomic and plaque characteristics to inform management decisions, including planning pre-procedural strategy for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI).
- 1.00 American Board of SurgerySuccessful completion of this CME activity, which includes participation in the evaluation component, enables the learner to earn credit toward the CME and Self-Assessment requirements of the American Board of Surgery's Continuous Certification program. It is the CME activity provider's responsibility to submit learner completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABS credit.
